Company Description RiKarbon is a growing startup with mission to develop proprietary technologies and high- performance sustainable products from non-conventional feedstocks to meet growing consumer needs in the sustainable value-chain. The company’s initial product offering includes renewable base-oils and ingredients for cosmetics and environmentally-acceptable lubricants. In addition to enabling technology development, product scale up and process optimization, the company is rapidly expanding its product portfolio to serve the market needs within cosmetic and lubricant business sectors, and seeking for a person who can work independently in a growing environment. 

Job description On a daily basis, the Research Technician will contribute to laboratory operations for condensation, hydrogenation and hydrodeoxygenation reactions and processes. The Research Technician support R&D and technical service projects with benchtop (i.e. wet chemistry) and flow operations under atmospheric pressure to high pressure. The candidate will synthesize catalysts, perform catalytic condensation and hydroprocessing reactions, recover products and characterize products using chromatography and spectrometric techniques. Formulation of products with additives may be necessary. In addition, the candidate will support the basic functions of the laboratory operations. 

Requirements 

  • Must have legal authorization to work in the US 
  • Certificate, Associates degree or Bachelor’s degree in science technologies, chemistry, or a similar field, a plus 
  • 3+ years of experience as a laboratory technician in chemical laboratories 
  • Experience working with high-pressure reactors and reaction systems 
  • Operational experience with both small-scale and large-scale laboratory equipment (e.g., glass and Parr reactors) 
  • Ability to multi-task and quickly switch between activities 
  • Results-driven and team-player attitude, willing to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Able to work collaboratively with scientists, engineers and other technicians
